The Giants won tonight, but the Detroit odyssey isn't likely to have a happy ending. As reported earlier, both Steve Smith and Mario Manningham suffered injuries that could sideline them during this crucial final stretch of regular season.
Smith was seen hobbling back to the locker room after the game's conclusion and told reporters that he is already unsure of his status for next week. Smith, who was clearly limited tonight but still able to contribute, appears to have a hamstring issue.
Less is known about Manningham's hip injury at the moment. It is currently being referred to as a hip flexor/strain and recovery time on such an injury ranges from 1-8 weeks. Being as the injury occurred relatively early and Manningham did not return, getting him back for the playoffs is likely the best-case scenario.
Ahmad Bradshaw, who was seen wearing an ice-wrap on his left wrist as the game ended, appeared to be fine in the post-game locker room.
Last and quite possibly least, Clint Sintim is done for the year with what appears to be a torn ACL. An MRI is forthcoming. Sintim lost his starting OLB spot this summer when Jonathan Goff proved himself worthy of starting at MLB (shifting Bulluck over). Banished to special teams, Sintim's 2010 has been even quieter than his dismal rookie campaign.
Obviously no word yet on who would replace him on the roster but with no LBs on the practice squad, it wouldn't shock me to see TE Jake Ballard once again return to the 53 man roster. More on these injuries tomorrow.
