Giants suspend CB Janoris Jenkins indefinitely due to violation of team rules

The Giant have suspended CB Janoris Jenkins indefinitely due to a violation of team rules, the team announced Tuesday.
Jenkins will miss Sunday's game against the Rams, and the team will review the situation next week.
"As a member of this team, there are standards and we have responsibilities and obligations," coach Ben McAdoo said in a press release. "When we don't fulfill those obligations, there are consequences. As I have said before, we do not like to handle our team discipline publicly. There are times when it is unavoidable, and this is one of those times."
McAdoo said on Monday that Jenkins had been excused from reporting to the team's facility that day due to "personal reasons," but the head coach gave a different explanation on Tuesday.
"At that point, neither myself nor any of the coaches had heard from Jackrabbit," McAdoo said. "I did not speak with him directly until Tuesday morning." Jenkins is the second Giants player to be suspended this season for a violation of team rules.
CB Dominique Rodgers- Cromartie was suspended earlier this month after an incident with McAdoo that resulted in him cleaning out his locker and leaving the team facility.

Ben McAdoo preached on Monday about how he wanted his team to "flush" all their pre-bye week problems. All the while, he knew another one was beginning to brew.
After this latest issue -- cornerback Janoris Jenkins not returning to the team from the bye week on time and apparently not telling the coaching staff he would be late, or even where he was -- it's hard to argue any more that the second-year coach still has control of his 1-6 team.
This is the third incident that we know about, just among his cornerbacks. He already had to suspend Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie for a game after storming out of the facility following a three-day long argument with his coach. And previously he benched Eli Apple for what was reportedly an argument on the sidelines.
Now Jenkins -- who previously left for the locker room before the first half was over in a previous game -- is suspended for his violation of team rules?
How do John Mara and Steve Tisch look at this and think McAdoo is in control?
This is a mess. An obvious mess. And McAdoo even has a knack for making it worse. When he suspended DRC he waited days before talking to his disgruntled players about the reasons, which absolutely hurt his credibility in the locker room. And not that he had much credibility with the media anyway, but he lost whatever was left when on Monday he said that Jenkins had been excused for "personal reasons" -- even though he knew that was not true.
Couple that with his 1-6 record, his stubborn refusal to give up the offensive play-calling until Week 6 -- and not until after an apparent nudge from ownership -- and what will surely be an increasingly empty MetLife Stadium the rest of the season and McAdoo is doing a fine job of laying out the case for Mara and Tisch to clean house.
Yes, blame Jenkins for not getting back to work on time and not bothering to call his bosses to explain what happened. He is solely responsible for that. But that is the symptom of what is a larger problem. And it's starting to be clear that it's a problem the head coach can't control.
