In case you've been living in a cave, Indianapolis has another possible future HOFer in QB Andrew Luck, the NFL's top passer. He is one of four top signal callers the Giants will face over the next four games (Russell Wilson, Colin Kaepernick and Tony Romo are the others).
The Giants will be without one of their defensive captains, MLB Jon Beason, who is out for the season after undergoing a procedure to fix his ailing foot. His replacement will be Jameel McClain, who has been manning the position in Beason's absence.
"The challenge to play four top-tier quarterbacks in the next four weeks? I’m telling you, we’ve got to do this crazy thing once again, man. We’ve got to play defense," McClain told reporters Thursday. "And playing against whoever you’re playing against, this is the NFL, in my opinion everybody is top because we all worked hard to get there. We’re the top of the top. We’ve got to bring our ‘A’ game. No mistakes. None of that. It sounds so simple and it’s something that we have to complete as a defensive unit, myself to everyone else."
Michael's big night... The latest Giant HOFer, Michael Strahan, will be on hand to collect some hardware on Monday Night. Strahan was inducted into Canton in August. Approximately 100 former Giants players will be in attendance Monday night to witness Strahan receive his Hall of Fame ring in a halftime ceremony.
Before the game, the Giants alumni who played for the team prior to Strahan’s arrival in 1993 – including Mark Bavaro, Leonard Marshall and Carl Banks – will be introduced individually and form a gauntlet through which the current team will run as it takes the field.
At halftime, more than 40 of Strahan’s former teammates will recreate the gauntlet for the 2014 Hall of Fame inductee as he makes his way to the center of the field for the ceremony. Strahan will be joined on stage by fellow Giants Hall of Famers Frank Gifford, Harry Carson and Lawrence Taylor. He will be presented his ring by David Baker, the President and Executive Director of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Now, the big question: will they retire his number...? Gifford (16) and Taylor (56) have their numbers retired but Carson (53) does not, so it's 50/50 that Michael will have his No. 92 jersey taken out of circulation.
Uniform alert... The Giants do not have an alternative jersey/uni like most other teams. In lieu, last season they began wearing the white pants they wore from the 60's through the 90's. The Giants will wear their alternate white pants, as well as white cleats, for their next two upcoming home games, this Monday against Indianapolis and Sunday Nov. 16 vs. San Francisco. The Giants were 1-1 last year in their white pants. (info courtesy of the Giants)
