[sny-box]Jordan Raanan of NJ.com: Giants and TC clearly have understanding John Jerry will not be suspended
Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post: Coughlin says the NFL told him John Jerry won’t be suspended over Bullygate. Interesting, in light of what Goodell said the other day.
Coughlin on John Jerry: "Calls were made to the league office. There is no suspension in the air or anything of that nature."
Tom Rock of Newsday: TC says John Jerry was "authentic" in his interview with Giants. "There was sincere remorse."[/sny-box]
Here is what NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said yesterday in his presser regarding the situation:
On disciplining other players named in Ted Wells report:"Our focus right now, at least in the case of three players, is that they would be evaluated. We’ve talked with the union several times about that and we agreed that was the right step. Once they’ve been evaluated, the medical professionals – joint medical professionals – will make a determination whether any treatment is necessary and it will be a requirement that they fulfill that."
On if suspension is possible:"The first thing is to get the evaluation and determine what the treatment is. Depending on what the doctors prescribe, that could prevent them from being a part of football for some period of time. But that is a medical decision."
UPDATE: Goodell reaffirmed this morning that no decision to suspend these players has been made yet. He said they will make a determination after the medical evaluations have been completed - JF
