From Giants SNY insider Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger:
The Giants will head to San Francisco to face the league’s best run defense with Brandon Jacobs and D.J. Ware leading the way. Rookie Da’Rel Scott could see a few reps after getting one carry for 5 yards and a first down against New England.
Bradshaw hasn’t made any appearances on the practice field since he suffered the injury against the Miami Dolphins late last month.
"But he’s in every meeting," coach Tom Coughlin said. "They don’t want him to stand around out here."
Someone informed of the team's thinking said Da'Rel Scott is in line to be the No. 1 kick returner on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.
The person, who requested anonymity because the Giants haven't announced who will be their returner, said the likelihood of Ahmad Bradshaw's being sidelined again and Ware's being the No. 2 back are factors.
"We have a lot of confidence in Da’Rel, someone who we’ve been working with since day one," special teams coach Tom Quinn said. "We’ll see how it plays out the rest of the week. ... We’d like to put the ball in his hands at some point.”
The team is excited about the potential duo of Scott and Jernigan.
“Jernigan’s a guy we want to see run the ball and Da’Rel’s a guy…” Quinn said trailing off. “So we’ve been hoping to work them in and get to the point where Jerrel could be the punt returner and Da’Rel could be the kickoff returner.
