The series switched from the over-the-air broadcast world of ABC to it's sister cable network ESPN in 2006. Since then, it's suffered a gradual decline in viewership mostly due to poor matchups.
This week's game between the Giants and the Minnesota Vikings is statistically the worst matchup in the history of long-running series.
The good news for ESPN is that the Giants, one of the league's flagship franchises and biggest draws will keep the game from being the least-viewed. Also, Minnesota boasts 2012 NFL MVP Adrian Peterson, who is one of the most-owned and started players in fantasy football. They also will debuting their new QB - Josh Freeman.
