Now Commenting On:

CB Brandon Flowers was released by the Kansas City Chiefs last Friday and the market for his services has been lukewarm at best. Teams rumored to be interested in Flowers are Minnesota, Baltimore and Atlanta. It is unknown at this time if the Giants have any interest.

With the influx of all the new faces in the defensive backfield at QSTC this offseason, it appears the Giants have few openings. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Prince Amukamara, Walter Thurmond, Trumaine McBride, Zack Bowman and rookies Thomas Gordon and Bennett Jackson are the corners likely to be on the roster on opening day.

The Giants also have Jayron Hosley, who is on the suspended list and is scheduled to return in Week Five.

Flowers was cut by the Chiefs due to salary cap constraints (they saved approximately $7 million by releasing him) and ineffectiveness in DC Bob Sutton's press-style defense. At 5'9", 187, Flowers is best suited at slot corner in this league. The Giants have quite a few options already at the slot, primarily Thurmond, who claims he is the best in the NFL at that position.
