In a series of tweets, Giants DT Damon Harrison reacted to the NFL's new national anthem policy on Wednesday.
The new policy, which the NFLPA immediately fired back at, requires all team and league personnel on the field "to stand and show respect for the flag and the anthem" or stay in the locker room or another inside area until the anthem is completed. Those who violate the policy will receive "appropriate discipline" from the commisioner.
Harrison was among Giants who knelt during the anthem at points last season for social justice reasons.
It's crazy to think that they think ratings dropped because of the kneeling. 😂😂 I can promise you it was wayyyy more people ACTUALLY not watching due to the support of the kneeling than the ones who opposed. Most of those TV games were actually terrible tbh...- Damon Harrison Sr. (@snacks) May 23, 2018
Can't look kids in the eye anymore and tell that they can be whatever they want to be. Has to now be you can be whatever they allow you to be and to the level they want you to be that at. https://t.co/FBwEy3N1NW- Damon Harrison Sr. (@snacks) May 23, 2018
Well with all due respect sir, the guys protesting don't force the networks to show it on TV. They don't force the media to cover it. The people don't get to escape their reality's that players are protesting for. There's no relax button for them https://t.co/kmweCXAlwN- Damon Harrison Sr. (@snacks) May 23, 2018
You seem like the type that could never see beyond anything placed in front of you. Like no matter how much ppl tell you it's a house behind the wall you're looking at you just won't get it. We love our military. We hate the way some people are treated. https://t.co/H76GSNvY16- Damon Harrison Sr. (@snacks) May 23, 2018
