Mark Herzlich took Blackburn's reps at MLB with the first team, an occurrence many believe will become the norm around here.
“Reps are reps, regardless," Herzlich said after practice as per Michael Eisen of Giants.com. "It’s cool getting a feel playing with JPP, playing with (Justin) Tuck, playing with Linval (Joseph). Those guys up front and getting the communication in the back end because it’s a little different with every guy. To be able to get a feel for that, I think it’s good practice for hopefully in the games."
The coaching staff has never failed to complement Herzlich in the media. He has worked hard to battle back from cancer. Now might be the time he takes that comeback to the next step.
"We thought that last year might've been one of those years for him, and then he made our team, rather than our practice squad. That was a real plus," head coach Tom Coughlin said recently. "We really felt that with a year under his belt, and a chance to be in the offseason program, that this would be an opportunity for him to really come in and know what he's doing, and be the player that we all think he can be. So far, he hasn't disappointed."
No, he hasn't.
