One of the biggest matchups to watch in the Giants Week 1 opener against the Jaguars is the battle between WR Odell Beckham Jr. and CB Jalen Ramsey. That is why it's worth nothing that Ramsey was an addition to the Jags' injury report after practice Thursday.
According to Jagaurs PR director Tad Dickman, Ramsey was limited in practice with an ankle injury. No injury occurred during practice, but there is some soreness that led to the limited reps.
It is too early to tell, but if Ramsey can't take the MetLife Stadium field, it would kill the anticipation to see Beckham's toughest matchup yet. The 25-year-old star receiver talked about Ramsey after practice Wednesday, calling him one of the best -- if not the best -- cornerback in the game.
"This is probably, if not the best, one of the best corners in the league," he said. "There's no way around it and this defense that they have -- you know, they have six or seven Pro Bowlers maybe more on the team. They have a very good scheme. They're probably the best defense in the NFL. So, we have a very tough challenge ahead of us."
Ramsey is also known for his trash-talking, something that Beckham wouldn't get mixed up in after his Josh Norman incident in the past.
"I think I learned my lesson," he said.
Friday's practice for the Jaguars will provide a clearer picture on Ramsey's status as the team will set injury designations.
