There was a dead body found in Giants CB Janoris Jenkins' New Jersey home on Tuesday, and Jenkins' older brother has been charged with manslaughter and is in custody, according to the Bergen County prosecutor's office.
The victim was indentified as 25-year-old Roosevelt Rene, who the Bergen County Prosecutor's office described as Jenkins' "family friend." Rene, who is also known as music producer Trypps Beatz, has many photos with Jenkins on his Instagram account.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, citing law enforcement sources, reported that police "are investigating a possible stragulation/suffocation" as the cause of death.
Jenkins was not at his Fair Lawn, N.J. home when the incident occured as he has been in Florida since the end of Giants mandatory minicamp, multiple sources told SNY's Ralph Vacchiano. The veteran cornerback has even been promoting a mansion pool party in Orlando this Saturday on his own Instagram account.
Though he did not comment on the situation, it was reported that Jenkins is aware of the situation at hand. According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, Jenkins is "good" and "okay" while he is "waiting for the legal process to play out."
Jenkins signed a five-year, $62.5 million deal with the Giants back in 2016. Last season, he totaled 26 tackles, three interceptions, and two returned for touchdown over nine games.
