EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - For the second straight day, injured cornerback Janoris Jenkins wasn't even outside for Giants practice, casting a huge shadow of doubt over whether he'll be able to play in Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon.
Jenkins suffered a hand and ankle injury in the Giants' opener, which apparently got worse as he practiced last week. Because despite practicing fully all week, he was unable to play in the Giants' loss to Detroit on Monday night. He tried to test out his injured ankle with trainers watching about two hours before the game, but they ultimately decided he could not go.
And he hasn't been back on the field since.
Neither Jenkins nor the Giants have said much about the injury, but the fact that he's not even able to stand on the sidelines during practice or ride the exercise bike with the other injured players speaks volumes.
All McAdoo would say about the injury on Wednesday was that "It worsened as (last) week went on."
Asked if he had suffered a setback since Monday night, McAdoo said only "He didn't practice, but he has not had a setback."
Meanwhile, right tackle Bobby Hart (ankle) was riding the exercise bike during the portion of practice open to the media on Thursday and it did not appear that he was going to practice at all. That makes him unlikely to play on Sunday. He was only able to play two plays before re-injuring his ankle against the Lions on Monday night.
If Hart can't go, the Giants are expected to reshuffle their line the same way they did when Hart went down against the Lions -- with Justin Pugh moving to right tackle and Brett Jones taking over at left guard.
Linebackers B.J. Goodson (leg) and J.T. Thomas (groin) were also both on the exercise bike on Thursday, and they seem unlikely to play on Sunday, too.
Meanwhile, tight end Evan Engram and linebacker Keenan Robinson were practicing again. Robinson practiced fully and has been cleared to resume all football activities. He said he's hopeful that he'll be able to play on Sunday.
As for Engram, he remains in the NFL's concussion protocol and practiced only on a limited basis on Thursday. His status for Sunday's game is very uncertain.
