June 5: Hosley issued an apology to the Giants organization, teammates and fans and said that he has sought out drug counseling (SNY's Matt Dunn, June 5).
Hosley will be eligible to return to the Giants’ active roster on Friday, September 26 following the team’s September 25 game against the Washington Redskins. He is still eligible to participate in all offseason and preseason practices and games.
Last season, Hosley made nine tackles and defended two passes. He has one career interception, which came in 2012.
The Giants took Hosley in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft.
With all the additions and turnover in the Giants' secondary this offseason, Hosley has been kind of a forgotten man. He is currently buried behind Prince Amukamara, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Walter Thurmond and Trumaine McBride at CB. This suspension may have actually saved the Giants the embarrassment of cutting him this September.
Hosley was always eyed as someone who could help on special teams, but his inability to win a returner job relegated him to only serving as CB and nickel depth. Since he cannot match up with the long WRs of the league, Hosley was only used as a slot and nickel corner. The Giants went out and got Thurmond and several others to cover that void this spring.
