CB Aaron Ross, G Chris Snee, MLB Antonio Pierce, S Kenny Phillips and DTs Chris Canty and Rocky Bernard are all very doubtful. CB Corey Webster and DT Fred Robbins may see limited action.
In their place, Terrell Thomas and Kevin Dockery will again be at CB; Kevin Boothe at OG; C.C. Brown or Sha'reff Rashad at S, Jay Alford at DT and Chase Blackburn and Jonathan Goff at MLB.
Also watch for the coaches to take extended looks at CBs De'Andre Wright, Stoney Woodson, Vince Anderson and Bruce Johnson. The latter two may even see time at safety.
The Giants will also be monitoring the WR position very carefully. Expect Domenik Hixon, Steve Smith, Mario Manningham and Sinorice Moss to get early reps. Rookies Hakeem Nicks and Ramses Barden should get plenty of time as well. Those players seem to have roster spots locked up providing anything unforeseen happens. Roster logic states that seven receivers is the maximum a team should keep.
So that means that Derek Hagen, David Tyree, Taye Biddle and Shaun Bodiford are vying for one roster spot.
Hagen will be hard to cut. He's looked great. Tyree, who has not played well at WR, is still a valuable special teams player.
The first cuts will be announced on Sept 1st. Teams have to be down to 53 players by Sept. 5th.
