In his latest Mock Draft, ESPN's Mel Kiper, Jr. has the Giants selecting USC QB Sam Darnold with the No. 2 pick -- as SNY's Ralph Vacchiano projected in his Mini Mock 3.0.
I still think the Giants should grab a quarterback with their pick (unless they get blown away by a trade offer). Eli Manning is 37 and on the down side of his career, and New York has a talented roster that shouldn't be picking this high in the future. Is GM Dave Gettleman really going to pass on a signal-caller who could be Manning's ready-made replacement?
The Giants visited with Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield, Penn State RB Saquon Barkley, and UCLA QB Josh Rosen earlier this week, per Vacchiano.
After Rosen's visit, Darnold is expected to be in town at some point later this week. Wyoming QB Josh Allen and Notre Dame G Quenton Nelson are also expected to visit the Giants.
N.C. State DE Bradley Chubb visited the Giants last week.
The 20-year-old Darnold completed 63.1 percent of his passes for 4,143 yards, 26 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in 14 games in 2017 during his second season as a starter for the Trojans.
He finished his collegiate career by completing 26-of-45 passes for 356 yards and an interception in USC's 24-7 loss to Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl on Dec. 29.
