In an interview on the Michael Kay show, Giants co-owner John Mara admitted he showed WR Odell Beckham Jr. a picture of his infamous peeing celebration, and asked if he wanted that to be his legacy.
Beckham caused some controversy after he lifted his leg, depicting a dog urinating following a touchdown in Week 3 against the Eagles. He later admitted it was in reference to comments President Trump made about NFL players protesting the national anthem.
Mara made a statement following the game saying the team doesn't accept that type of behavior. Now, it is known that Mara had a personal meeting with the star receiver asking him if he wants to be remembered for antics like this one.
Beckham has had many more iconic moments in his career than the peeing celebration. He immediately became a star after "The Catch" against the Cowboys during his rookie season. However, he does have more controversial moments like the kicking net incident and punching a hole in the Green Bay Packers visiting locker room wall after the team's loss in the playoffs last season.
The 24-year-old, who is currently recovering from ankle surgery, is under contract for next season as the team picked up his fifth-year option. Mara has said in the past that he wants to offer Beckham a contract extension in the future. He will earn about $8.5 million next season.
