Both seem like long shots to land here with the Giants.
The Giants are rumored to be interested in McClain, who they coveted three years ago in the draft but were beaten to the punch by the Raiders, who took McClain with the eight overall pick. The Giants ended up choosing JPP at 15 and McClain went on to have a rocky existence in Oakland.
From Rotoworld: A source with knowledge of the situation tells Profootballtalk.com that free agent Rolando McClain has generated interest from "multiple franchises" since being waived last Friday.
Browns GM Mike Lombardi was openly high on McClain coming out of Alabama, and multiple pre-draft reports in 2010 indicated Giants GM Jerry Reese was going to select McClain with the 15th overall pick. McClain went to Oakland at No. 8, and Reese "settled" for Jason Pierre-Paul. Both Cleveland and Reese's Giants could use inside linebacker help. So there are two possible landing spots.McClain exhibited some disturbing behavior with the Raiders, and although he'll only be 24 this season, many teams would rather stay away. His on-field performance is outweighing his off-field antics at this point in time.
Jacobs has taken to social media (again) to make his case. This time around, he sent out a photo via Instagram. From the NY Post....
The former Giants running back posted a picture on Instagram of himself running over a Patriots player with the caption “Trying to get back in this uniform.”The Giants aren't in the business of going backwards (The signing of Aaron Ross notwithstanding). If they are going to add another RB, it will be one that can get the tough yards. So re-signing Jacobs, who struggled at times in short-yardage situations, doesn't appear to be a wise move.
