The following players appeared on the Giants' injury report on Monday...
Did not participate in practice:
- DE Jason Pierre-Paul (core muscle)
- OT Will Beatty (lower leg)
- LB Jonathan Casillas (knee)
- CB Janoris Jenkins (back)
- OT Marshall Newhouse (shoulder)
- RB Shane Vereen (triceps)
- QB Ryan Nassib (elbow)
Limited participation in practice:
- LB Keenan Robinson (shoulder)
- S Nat Berhe (concussion)
- LS Zak DeOssie (hamstring)
- DE Owa Odighizuwa (knee)
The Giants are saying that CB Janoris Jenkins has a bruised back, which qualifies as good news because there was some concern that he had damaged his spine or kidney or who knows what else. He underwent an MRI and several other tests on Monday that ruled out any serious damage. So a team source said it's being described for now as a "bruise."
It's a heck of a bruise, though, and the Giants have a quick turnaround for their Thursday game in Philadelphia, so his status for that is very much up in the air.
And so is the status of RB Shane Vereen, who had just come off from injured reserve a couple of weeks ago after missing much of the season with a torn triceps. Well, in the game on Sunday he reinjured that triceps. I was not immediately clear how serious his injury is, but he didn't participate in the Giants' "jog-through" practice today and a team source didn't sound optimistic that he'd be ready for the game on Thursday.
Vereen has been back for two weeks and left one game early with a concussion and then this one with a triceps injury. It certainly hasn't been the comeback anyone had been hoping for.
