As we reported earlier, the Giants did chose not to make qualifying offers to restricted free agents FB Henry Hynoski and C Jim Cordle today, which will make them unrestricted free agents come March 11.
According to SNYGiants insider Ralph Vacchiano, OL Dallas Reynolds the team's only ERFA (exclusive rights free agent), will receive an offer from the team before the deadline.
That leaves the Giants with just two remaining RFAs to make decisions on (LBs Mark Herzlich and Spencer Paysinger) and 26 UFAs that will be free to negotiate with any club come the league new year on March 11th. That is, if they don't decide to accept an order from the Giants in the interim.
As per the website spotrac.com, the Giants are $19,288,186 under the league's new $133 million salary cap. This number can be increased by the restructuring of some veteran contracts, such as Chris Snee and David Baas, who are slated to make $6.75 million and $4.75 million respectively.
The Giants have eleven players scheduled to make over $1 million in base salary in 2014:
1. QB Eli Manning: $15,150,000
2. S Antrel Rolle: $7,000,000
3. OL Chris Snee: $6,750,000
4. OL William Beatty: $4,850,000
5. C David Baas: $4,750,000
6. DE Mathias Kiwanuka: $4,375,000
7. WR Victor Cruz: $3,999,000
8. DE Jason Pierre-Paul: $3,161,000
9. DL Cullen Jenkins: $2,450,000
10. P Steve Weatherford: $2,025,000
11. LB Jacquian Williams: $1,389,000
Eli is signed thru the 2015 season. There has been no known talks of extending or restructuring his deal. Same for Rolle, who is in the final year of his contract and we imagine wants to stay here as long as possible. JPP will and Jacquian Williams will both be UFAs come next season.
