Damontre Moore, formerly of the New York Giants, said on ESPN New York Radio Saturday morning that he could have handled the situation that led to his release Friday better by simply walking away from teammate Cullen Jenkins.
Instead, Moore got into an altercation and then a fight with Jenkins in the locker room over some headphones that Odell Beckham Jr. handed out to his teammates. Jenkins got two pairs, Moore got none, hence the throwdown.
According to James Kratch of NJ.com, Moore was invited on the air by former teammate Steve Weatheford, who was co-hosting the show with Dave Rothenberg.
The headphones in question were Beats by Dre, a popular accessory that ranges in price from $149 to $299. It is believed that Beckham brought enough for the entire team, but when Jenkins took extra sets for his daughters, leaving none for Moore, fireworks ensued.
It was not the first incident involving Moore fighting with teammates. He reportedly has been fined several times for his off-field behavior. This latest row happened to be the last straw, as the Giants cut him on Friday.
According to Kratch, Moore said he bore no hard feeling towards the Giants and wished them success in the future.
