Yesterday, the Giants trimmed their roster down to the league-mandated maximum of 75 players. WR Sinorice Moss (sports hernia), QB Jim Sorgi (shoulder) and LB Adrian Tracy (elbow) were placed on injured reserve, deeming them ineligible to return to the field this season. The Giants also shifted OL Kevin Boothe from Active/PUP to Inactive/PUP and waived WR Nyan Boateng.
The starters will see some action in the final preseason game on Thursday, mainly because so many of them missed time this summer. It's hard to predict who out of the 75 remaining players will not suit up. Outside of C Shaun O'Hara (ankle) and CB Aaron Ross and LB Chase Blackburn (knee), the only questionables are WR Ramses Barden, TE Travis Beckum (neck) and DT Jay Alford (knee).
Yesterday was Tom Coughlin's 64th birthday. The team serenaded him after practice.
According to Giants.com.....
Rookie wide receiver Victor Cruz leads the NFL with 251 receiving yards and four touchdowns and is tied for second with 12 catches this preseason.Links
The 251 yards place him 84 yards ahead of any other player. Only one other player has as many as three touchdowns and he will also be in the stadium on Thursday (New England rookie tight end Ron Gronkowski). Cruz's 12 catches tie him with four other players, just one less than league leader Jordan Shipley of Cincinnati.
