It is a media festival this week as two of the league's most popular players - the Brothers Manning - face off in front of the whole world on prime time television (I smell a ratings winner...). NBC executives are doing cartwheels down 6th avenue....
Not much football yesterday, but lots of talk. The Giants practiced but did so without several players.
OT Will Beatty's season hangs in the balance. Surgery on a broken metatarsal bone in his foot will shelve him for 6-8 weeks. The Giants do not plan to IR Beatty at this time, but that possibility certainly exists.
TE Kevin Boss (concussion) believes he will back Game 3 vs Tennessee. The coaches are optimistic as well but will remain cautious.
LB Chase Blackburn (knee) is day-to-day and has not been ruled out as of yet for Sunday's game.
CB Aaron Ross practiced yesterday and Tom Coughlin was fairly certain that Ross would play against the Colts this week.
WR Hakeem Nicks (ankle) and DE Osi Umenyiora (knee) were two of the injuries listed yesterday but both are expected to practice today
Eli Manning on facing brother Peyton...
Q: Will it be easier the second time around facing your brother?A: Yeah. It's never easy facing the Colts because they're a good team with quality players and a great defense. It's not a team we play that often so we have to watch a lot of film and really study up on what they're doing and their schemes defensively. It should be a great atmosphere, and I'm excited about the first time playing in Lucas Oil Stadium, so it should be a great environment on a Sunday night.
Peyton on facing Eli......
Q: The last time you time played each other, Eli was a young quarterback in the developmental stages. Do you see this matchup now as a little more equal?A: Yeah, certainly there is a big difference between being in your second year and being in your seventh. There's a difference in experience for any player in the amount of time that you'd played, especially at quarterback. Certainly, a lot has happened since that game four years ago. It's two different teams, I think. We have a different head coach, we have different assistant coaches, a lot of different players. There is not many players that were on defense for the Giants for that game four years ago. There is a lot of new players there. I think it's a different situation.
