Big Blue Nation is on high alert yet again, awaiting the news on whether or not Ben McAdoo will continue to coach this team. But after everything that has happened since that first report, John Mara has to make the move now.
It's simply been overdue. Mara, the players, and frankly, anyone with a pair of eyes has seen that McAdoo can't communicate well with his players. The tipping point was obviously the Manning debacle that made national headlines. But it has been happening all season long from Eli Apple's "mental state," Janoris Jenkins not showing up, and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie lashing out enough to start cleaning out his locker.
It is a poisonous environment that cannot continue to plague, not only this team, but the franchise as a whole. Reports have been swirling around that the team is in disarray as the front office and ownership continue to clash over over what moves to make. That might be the reason why Mara and Steve Tisch avoided reporters after the loss because they want to make sure everyone is on the same page with the decision, unlike the Manning benching.
It has been an awfully rough year to watch, and with reports of former players wearing Manning jerseys on the sideline during the game this week, that may be the breaking point for my eyes as it will surely bring on the waterworks. But MetLife Stadium is bound to be a hostile environment regardless, and if McAdoo is on the sideline with all of this controversy surrounding this team to this point, it will just be a perfect picture for the dumpster fire that has become the New York Football Giants.
Just get rid of him. It will at least numb the pain for now...
