So, in case you really slept under a rock this week, here's what you missed. After the Giants blowout loss to the Rams Sunday, two anonymous players came forth, and said that Coach McAdoo "has lost this team," and basically called out everything he's done all season.
On top of that fiasco, Janoris Jenkins returned to the team after his indefinite suspension. Asked what happened, he simply said, "I just didn't show up." Great...
Oh, and there's a game to play on Sunday against the winless 49ers in San Francisco. Here are three players the Giants need to perform, so they don't officially become the laughing stock of the NFL and just the Niners their first win of the season:
Janoris Jenkins: It's time for Jenkins to put whatever happened over the bye week and now behind him. Pierre Garcon is virtually the Niners only passing threat, and he will likely be lined up with him most of the game. Jenkins is the Giants' top cornerback, and he showed that all last year locking down the best receivers every week. He did that to start the season, but his play has diminished with the rest of the defense in recent weeks. Coming off a suspension, I suspect Jenkins to have a fire in his belly to make a big play and be a pest to the Niners all game long.
Orleans Darkwa: The 49ers have the worst rushing defense in the league...literally. They are ranked 32nd with 1,221 yards allowed in nine games this season. That's 135.7 per game. Darkwa, who is likely to see the most carries, should have a field day with this jumbled unit. Even Wayne Gallman and Paul Perkins may have some highlight moments. But, Darkwa needs to set the tone early and get it going on the ground.
Evan Engram: This is the perfect time for Engram to have the breakout game Giants fans have been salivating over since he showed off his playmaking ability. The 49ers have the 28th ranked pass defense in the NFL, and their linebackers won't be able to keep up with Engram's speed. With Shepard still rusty, expect Eli Manning to rely on his favorite target throughout the season.
