Ben McAdoo was "brutally honest" with his team on Wednesday, and I hope he was brutally honest about the fact that Travis Kelce is going to have his way with his team.
Tight ends have been ripping the Giants apart for the past 10 games as they've given up a touchdown in each of those contests. Garrett Celek was running rampant all over the field last Sunday. If the linebacking corps can't cover Celek, what are they going to do with Kelce?
Chiefs QB Alex Smith loves looking Kelce's way, especially in the end zone. Kelce, like Evan Engram, has some wheels as well, and can make defenders miss. It is going to be brutal if the Giants can't pick up arguably the best tight end in football.
The only thing I can think of to keep Kelce under control throughout the game: Effort. This is obviously something that has been in the headlines the past two weeks. The Giants' effort on the field has been noticably poor, and McAdoo addressed it with his team. The "desire to finish plays" needs to step up on all aspects. But, for Kelce specifically, effort from these linebackers to stick with him will force Smith to look elsewhere.
Jonathan Casillas, this is not the week I want to hear you were "a little tired." That won't fly against a tight end like Kelce, who is licking his chops with this matchup.
