Odell Beckham and Dwayne Haskins both have something in common after Thursday night: the Giants believe they'd be better off without them.

After shipping their former star wideout to Cleveland earlier this offseason, the Giants could have made Haskins -- a New Jersey native -- the heir apparent to Eli Manning under center. Instead, they shocked the football world by selecting Duke QB Daniel Jones at No. 6 overall.

The Redskins ultimately picked Haskins at No. 15, meaning the Giants will see him twice a year for the foreseeable future. In the middle of Haskins' draft party in Maryland, the former Ohio State signal-caller received a text from Beckham Jr, per Sports Illustrated

"Show em why," it read.

The Giants passing on Haskins, who had expressed excitement at the idea of playing quarterback for Big Blue, will certainly give him greater reason to rise to the ocassion when he play them.

"To be honest, I am more motivated now than ever," he told Sports Illustrated. "There's a bigger chip on my shoulder. The league done messed up."
