Day Two of Giants minicamp is in the books and not much has been learned except don't believe everything you hear and read. WR Odell Beckham, Jr., who was not expected to participate in team drills due to a hamstring issue, ended up not just playing but catching a TD pass from Ryan Nassib.
"Yeah, we got him in there for a little," said Tom Coughlin after practice. "He came out of the training locker room and sprinted over to that cart over there and I thought, ‘Well maybe he can run 20 yards.’ What do you think?"
The Giants were relieved to see their top pick in action at this point of the offseason. With the team breaking for the next few weeks, it gives them peace of mind that Beckham can make plays as advertised. Beckham was pleased as well.
“It was good to just be able to run around, just to try to be able to make plays for this team and this offense and really just feel comfortable again running around and getting back on that hamstring,” Beckham said. “Once I warmed up I started moving around and it felt a lot better. It felt good to finally be able to run around and feel somewhat comfortable.”
This was the first of what may be many scores from Beckham, the Giants hope. He can't fare any worse than the man he's being asked to replace (Hakeem Nicks) who scored only three TDs in his final 28 games for the Giants.
