Hillis' deal will be worth $1.8 million over two seasons (Orr, March 11).
The 28-year-old Hillis came to the Giants in mid-October when the team was desperate for a healthy running back. He had 247 yards on the ground over seven games with the team in 2013.
Hillis was a nice find for the Giants last season. While most teams felt he was done, Hillis showed the Giants and their opponents that he wasn't. He's a big body that can get the short yards, catch the football out of the backfield, and -- oh, yes -- block for the passing game.
The thinking here is that new OC Ben McAdoo sees Hillis as a John Kuhn-type that fits into his plans. I like the move. Now the Giants aren't so thin in the backfield.
Should they re-sign Andre Brown, now, or wait for a Knowshon Moreno or Ben Tate to drop in price?
