The Newark Star-Ledger expects the Giants to be interested in re-signing K Josh Brown."Brown signed a one-year deal with the Giants and had arguably the best season of his career, drilling 23-of-26 field goals and all 31 extra points. He also produced 35 touchbacks on kickoffs. Brown, 35 in April, will likely secure another one-year deal from the G-Men."
The Arizona Republic expects the Cardinals to tender an offer to restricted free-agent TE Jake Ballard this offseason."Ballard missed the first half of the season while recovering from knee surgery and was signed by the Cardinals in Week 9. He appeared in eight games (three starts), finishing with seven catches for 75 yards and two touchdowns. With Jim Dray an impending free agent, Ballard will likely be brought back as a blocking tight end behind Rob Housler."
I see no reason not to retain Brown. The Giants were playing from behind early on in the season and his chances were limited. He had a solid season considering, finishing strong and was named NFC ST Player of the Week after the Giants' OT victory in Week 16 at Detroit.
It was good to see Ballard get back on the field and play. Most were certain he would retire after missing a season and a half of football due to the knee injuries suffered in Super Bowl XLVI. As an RFA, it doesn't make sense for the Giants or any team to fork over a draft pick to acquire Ballard at this point.
