As Giants general manager Dave Gettleman wouldn't rule anything out Wednesday as it relates to his quarterback plans, Eagles exectuive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman revealed at the NFL Combine that they won't use the franchise tag on Nick Foles, allowing him to become a free agent.
"We made this decision as an organization and we feel very comfortable about it," Roseman said. The Eagles will be fully committed to Carson Wentz, it appears.
This clears the way for quarterback-needy teams to sign the Super Bowl-winning signal-caller. Gettleman didn't rule out bringing in veteran competition for Eli Manning.
An NJ.com report earlier this month said Foles "probably" would be interested in the Giants if he hit free agency. Foles won't come cheap, however, and it's unclear if the Giants would add another huge cap number at the position along with Manning's.
ESPN's Adam Schefter says the Jaguars will be the favorite to sign Foles heading into the start of free agency.
