Giants GM Jerry Reese recently discussed what he looks for when recruiting players.
"Size is important for obvious reasons," Reese told Brandon Shields of The Jackson Sun. "For a quarterback, yes there are smaller guys in the NFL like Russell Wilson and Drew Brees, but we typically look at size because they need to be tall enough to see over linemen, who will be even bigger than them. If a guy doesn't have a lot of size, he needs a lot of ability in other aspects like speed, strength, endurance, effort."
Reese noted, however, that the most important characteristic he looks for in a player is heart.
"What's most important to me is what's inside your chest," Reese said. "How big is your heart? When you get in the fourth quarter of a critical game in the division, do you have the heart to come out and fight exhaustion and play at the highest level you can. "Because you're playing at the highest level of football you can, and the heart you put into it should reflect that you're willing to do that for our organization."
The Giants have the 23rd overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Meanwhile, the NFL Combine begins later this week in Indianapolis.
