The Giants signed former Arizona Cardinals defensive end Josh Mauro on Monday, the team announced.
The 27-year-old, who visited the team on Sunday, played under new Giants defensive coordinator James Bettcher in Arizona. Mauro says Bettcher's defensive style is one that is aggressive, and one that he loves to play in.
"It's shoot first, ask questions later," Mauro told The Post's Paul Schwartz. "It is an offensive defense. I like to play that type of way, just getting off the rock, being explosive, just causing mayhem in the backfield. There's a lot of pieces that really fit that type of style, that type of mold. I think it's going to be very effective."
Mauro has totaled 56 tackles and two sacks in 47 games in his four-year career. He has played in at least 13 games in each of the past three seasons for Arizona. He recorded a sack and 22 tackles in 2017.
