Dave Gettleman will evaluate quarterbacks in the upcoming draft class but wants Eli Manning to remain as Giants quarterback, sources told ESPN.
Manning told ESPN that he had a very positive meeting with Gettleman, who told the New York Post earlier in the month that it was a "great" meeting.
The Giants will have the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, which puts them in position to potentially draft a new quarterback.
Gettleman reportedly told Manning that the team is still evaluating the college class and comparing them to former third-round pick QB Davis Webb. Manning told Gettleman that he wants to remain with the Giants and does not mind if the team drafts a new quarterback. He believes that he could succeed with a healthy Odell Beckham and improvements to the offensive line and running game.
Pat Shurmur, who is likely to be the Giants' next head coach, also gave a "favorable impression" of Manning during his interview with the Giants, sources told ESPN.
