Graziano reported that the hand injuries Pierre-Paul sustained in a fireworks accident were worse than what the team had been told before they were finally able to examine him. Beyond a missing right index finger, fractured thumb and skin graft, Graziano reported the Giants learned a portion of one of the other fingers on the right hand is missing.
Graziano reported some in the organization were pleased about his attitude and physical condition other than the hand.
Pierre-Paul, who returned to Florida after leaving East Rutherford earlier in the week, would be paid about $871,000 a game were he to return. Graziano reported he has offered to play with the hand protected, but the Giants don't want to pay Pierre-Paul as long as they believe he is not fully ready.
Anyone who follows this site knows that we have been raising these questions all along about how JPP is going to be able to play NFL football with that hand. Now that we know the full extent of his injuries, it's clear that it will be a long time before JPP gets back on a football field.
The Giants clearly do not believe that he is ready, and are preparing for life without him. It's disappointing, but now it's the reality. I personally believe he may come back to the game, whether it's with the Giants remains to be seen.
