On Friday, ESPN ran an article written by Seth Wickersham that detailed friction between Robert Kraft, Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. In the 24 hours since, the rumor mill has been tirelessly churning.
Sparked by that article, reports have come out that this season may be the last together for Kraft, Belichick and Brady. Within a few hours, reports saying that Belichick 'wants to be the Giants coach' began to circulate.
Shortly after Wickersham's piece was published, Kraft, Belichick and Brady released a joint statement calling reports of unhappiness 'unsubstantiated, highly exaggerated or flat out incorrect.'
On Saturday, Peter King of Sports Illustrated spoke to Kraft on the record about the reports. The Patriots owner shot down any thought of trading their head coach.
"When you're lucky enough to have someone exceptional, you let them do their job and you get out of the way," Kraft told King.
The Giants coaching search has gone through Foxborough already, as the team have interviewed both of Belichick's coordinators: Josh McDaniels and Matt Patricia.
