The Giants appeared to escaped Dallas with just their pride hurt Sunday night. The injury-plagued franchise thought they got through the hard-hitting game unscathed. Not so fast...
Rookie OL Ereck Flowers underwent an MRI on his ankle on Monday. The results are expected to be in sometime Tuesday.
“He was limited to a certain extent because of the injury, but I thought he battled away, and that’s what we always counted on—that he would battle,” said head coach Tom Coughlin on a conference call with reporters. “And he did."
Flowers was engaged in a battle of rookie lineman with the Cowboys DE Randy Gregory when he came up lame early in the game. On one play. Gregory ran right past Flowers uninhibited into the Giants' backfield.
Gregory himself was injured during the battle in the third quarter, stepping on Flowers' foot and spraining his own ankle, forcing him from the game. It is being reported Gregory will be out four weeks.
The Giants hope Flowers will not miss any time. They are thin at tackle as it is these days.
"They’re doing the usual number of MRI’s etc. etc. I don’t have any information in front of me about that," said Coughlin. "He did injure the ankle early on and he gutted it out and finished the game. But today is a different day."
