Saturday is the day players on the roster bubble will stay nervously glued to their cell phones. It is the day when NFL teams are required to trim their rosters from 75 to 53 players.
By 4pm this afternoon, "The Turk" will have made all his visits where he notifies players that "the coach wants to see you, and bring your playbook." Of course, that playbook is now a tablet, but that's just a technological semantic.
Who will stay and who will go? Well, if you take into account the number of injured players they are currently carrying, most of the cuts won't be a surprise like Steve Weatherford was on Friday.
One cut will be made at PK. Chris Boswell was brought in to spell Josh Brown, so he'll likely go. So will QB Ricky Stanzi, as the Giants rarely carry three QBs.
Others likely to be waived today: DE Brad Bars, DT Dominique Hamilton, DB CJ Conway, RB Kenneth Harper, WR Julian Talley, WR Preston Parker, and, finally, TE Adrien Robinson.
I do not expect to see any healthy safeties on the list. The Giants have five and the way things are going, they'll likely keep them all.
CB Chykie Brown (knee) has not practiced in weeks and Tom Coughlin has repeatedly said he does not have a date for his return. Prediction: waived/injured.
S Nat Berhe (calf) had surgery recently and, depending on who you believe, may or may not be able to return this season. Prediction: IR, or possibly short-term IR.
OL Brett Jones (knee) was faring well, but may have gotten cut anyway. There's a clear difference between the CFL and the NFL and Jones was on the verge of overcoming that, but the MCL sprain is going to shelve him. Prediction: IR
LB Jonathan Casillas (knee) is still not ready to play. Prediction: Makes the 53 for now. If he can't return within a few weeks, then a decision will be made.
