Giants head coach Pat Shurmur played it coy following Friday's practice, but, barring a setback, it appears that both Saquon Barkley and Evan Engram will be back in action when the team takes on the Cardinals in Week 7 on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
Barkley has been out since suffering an ankle injury in Week 3, while Engram missed last week's Thursday night clash with the Patriots due to a strained MCL.
"He's available," Shurmur said of his second-year running back. "We'll see if he's back. If he is, he'll be ready to go. I just choose not to tell you right now."
When asked about Engram's availability, Shurmur indicated that he is waiting until the last possible minute to make a decision on both of his injured offensive weapons.
The Giants offense has looked somewhat listless in back-to-back losses to Minnesota and New England, averaging just 212 total yards in the last two games. With Sterling Shepard (concussion) already ruled out for Sunday's game, Big Blue is in dire need for some explosiveness to help right the ship, something which both Barkley and Engram can undoubtedly provide.
