The Patriots were represented by DB Devin McCourty instead. Belichick did, however, speak at the podium later on.
"There's something to be said about being gracious in defeat," Sharpe said on the air, as per USA Today. "We've seen the New England Patriots five times in the last 12 years be victorious. And we've seen the opposing coaches that lost come out and speak to our Steve Tasker. Coach Cowher did it when they lost. We saw this last week (after New England defeated Houston)....Bill Belichick makes it very easy for you to root against the Patriots. You can't be a poor sport all the time. You're not going to win every time. And he does this every time he loses. It is unacceptable."
Why does this surprise anyone? Belichick has always been aloof. Look at his reactions after both SB losses to the Giants....he ran off the field before the game was over in SB XLII!!
In another odd twist, Niners coach Jim Harbaugh did not speak on the podium after the game during the trophy presentation. FOX was not pleased....
Fox Sports on why Niners coach Jim Harbaugh did not speak with them after Falcons-Niners game: "We don't know. It's frustrating."— Richard Deitsch (@richarddeitsch) January 21, 2013
