Here are this week’s picks. I’ll be using the point spreads from Yahoo! Sports. Feel free to include your picks for these or any other of the week’s games in the comments section. Good luck!
Week 8 Record: 2-2
Minnesota Vikings (+5) at Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks are incredibly tough to beat at home. They’re 3-0 this year at home and will return for the first time in three weeks. The Vikings are coming of a bad loss to the Buccaneers, which knocked them back down to earth. The spread may scare some away, but Seattle at home with any spread is usually a safe pick.
Baltimore Ravens (-3.5) at Cleveland Browns
The Ravens head to division rival Cleveland following their bye week. But keep in mind, the week before the Ravens were embarrassed by the Texans. Baltimore should be on their game, and even though they’ll be on the road, this spread actually could have been larger for this game.
Buffalo Bills (+10) at Houston Texans
Here’s another gamble on a big spread. The Texans play great defense and can score against anyone. The Bills have been disappointing offensively and defensively after trying to improve their team in the offseason. It’s a recipe for a blowout but so was the Packers-Jaguars game from last week. Still, I’m leaning towards a big win from Houston.
Pittsburgh Steelers (+3) at New York Giants
The New York-New Jersey area needs a lift following Hurricane Sandy, and maybe for a few hours, the focus can turn towards football. The Giants need a big effort, but the Steelers will be a tough opponent. This game will likely be decided by a field goal either way, so I’m going to pick Pittsburgh based on the spread. But the Giants can still earn the win.
