Given Brown's performance, does he deserve to retain the job even when Phillips is healthy?
Last year, in Phillips' fourth year he put together his best season. He had 82 tackles, four INTs, 11 passes defended, a forced fumble and a safety. And in three full games in 2012, he had 15 tackles and one pass defended.
Filling in for Phillips for four contests, Brown has three picks, 26 tackles, three passes defended and two safeties.
Brown, the third-year safety out of Michigan, is doing as good of a job as any back-up can do. So why bench him?
Tom Coughlin is not the type of coach who lets injuries dictate a starting position. Phillips likely won't suit up v. the Boys, but he did practice earlier this week:
"He worked today. He did a little something and he’s going to work back into it very gradually. We’ll see how he does each day."Where do you stand, Giants fans?
