Practice squads can be formed beginning Saturday at noon after the waiver period closes. Teams may sign any available player - not just players dropped form their rosters - as long as they are eligible (see below). Of the 75 players the Giants have on their roster, we see 22 eligible names.
All rookies are eligible for the practice squad. RB David Wilson, WR Rueben Randle and CB Jayron Mosely are assured roster spots, so forget them. DT Markus Kuhn, OT Matt McCants, TE Adrien Robinson, DE Matt Broha, OL Stephen Goodin, DE Adewale Ojomo, WR David Douglas, DB Laron Scott, LB Jake Muasau, DE Craig Marshall and TE Larry Donnell are all bubble players eligible for practice squad duty.
Also eligible if waived: OL Selvish Capers, DT Marvin Austin, OL James Brewer, WR Dan DePalma, S Will Hill and Mr. Practice Squad himself, QB Ryan Perrilloux.
RB Andre Brown and DE Adrian Tracy should be eligible because neither played 9 games in a season nor spent parts of three seasons on a practice squad. Brown spent his rookie season (2009) on IR and has only been active four times since 2010. Tracy was placed on IR in his rookie season (2010) and then spent last season on the Giants' practice squad.
No players can be placed on the regular season PUP list at this time. Players that are on PUP cannot be activated until after the sixth week of the season. Teams have a 21 day window to add them to the active roster (Week 9). The Giants currently have two players on this list: DT Chris Canty and TE Travis Beckum.
Players on the injured reserve list are ineligible to be re-activated for the remainder of this season. Beginning this season, teams may re-activate one player from IR, but that player has to be on the final 53 man roster after all cuts are made. Same rules apply for any player placed on IR once the season begins. The Giants have three players on IR: OL Brandon Mosely, DT Martin Parker and DE Justin Trattou.
(Don't think we left anyone out, here, but if we did, let us know and we will address it)
