The Cowboys' offensive line has been criticized this year, but Tony Romo has only been sacked 7 times, third least in the NFL. Much of the reason for this is Romo's elusiveness. Opposing defensive lines have done a good job getting pressure, but Romo has been able to avoid the sack due to his mobility. However, under pressure, Romo has been known to make the occasional poor decision. The Giants defensive line has been piling up the sacks recently, but they do not need to wrap up the quarterback to be effective. The Giants need to continually pressure Romo and force him into throwing picks. In the Cowboys' last three losses, Romo has seven interceptions; in their one win, he did not turn over the ball.
2. DeMarcus Ware
The leader of their defense, I believe that DeMarcus Ware is the best player on the Cowboys. The outside linebacker is one of the premier pass rushers in the NFL, recording 67.5 sacks over his last 71 games. He already has 7 in only 5 games, including 6 in his last 3. The Giants' offensive line struggled early in the season protecting Eli Manning, but have looked better recently. Ware is the ultimate test for this offensive line, and they need to keep four eyes on him at all times if they want to keep Manning upright.
3. Miles Austin
Steve Smith (Car) - 5 receptions, 75 yards, 1 touchdown
Reggie Wayne- 7 receptions 96 yards 1 touchdown
Andre Johnson- 5 receptions, 95 yards, 0 touchdowns
Calvin Johnson- 5 receptions, 146 yards, 1 touchdown
As you can see, the Giants have had some problems defending top tier wide receivers. Although they kept many of these receivers quiet for much of the game, it only takes one play for them to make an impact. Miles Austin has developed into a legitimate #1 receiver, and he is someone the Giants need to keep their eye on. The Cowboys have great depth in their receiving core, which includes Jason Witten, rookie Dez Bryant and the rejuvenated Roy Williams. If the Giants pay too much attention to Austin, one of the Cowboys' other weapons will burn them. But at the same time, Austin is the Cowboys' most explosive offensive player, and the Giants need to make sure to limit his yards after the catch with sure tackling.
