Thurmond will have surgery on Tuesday.
He pulled himself from Sunday's loss to the Cardinals in the second half.
Trumaine McBride will likely take over at nickel corner for Thurmond.
There just seems to be no good news to report out of QDTC these days. Thurmond was signed in March to a one-year, $3 million deal (with $2 million in guarantees) to augment the Giants' DB packages, primarily as a slot corner. The perception was that his presence would keep Antrel Rolle at safety, freeing him up to make plays.
The Giants have few alternatives now in the defensive backfield. They are down to four corners: Prince, DRC, Zack Bowman and Trumaine McBride. They are carrying two CBs on the practice squad - Bennett Jackson and Chandler Fenner - both who were cut by the club after training camp.
Also, Jayron Hosley is due back from suspension in two weeks, but he's been spotty when called upon. He's also injury-prone. They could bring him back, or cut him and go in another direction.
