Rookie RB Jayron Hosley (turf toe) will also miss the game but expects to resume practicing next week. "Hoping next week, early next week," Hosley said yesterday. "That’s what we’re shooting for so that’s what I’m working towards."
The Giants hope he can come back that soon. He was fitting in nicely in the nickel packages and has even been mentioned as the third corner:
"I’m feeling pretty comfortable. It’s something different but I’m used to it. I’m going to get used to it with the right culture. They’ve been coaching me well. I’m getting a lot of advice from the older guys like Antrel, who played there last year. It’s been coming kind of second nature to me."
Safety Will Hill missed practice due a death in the family, while CB Michael Coe (hamstring) returned to the field. Rookie OL Brandon Mosley sat out with an ankle. Still sidelined: LB Michael Boley (hamstring), DB Brandon Bing (hamstring), OT Will Beatty (back), CB Terrell Thomas (knee), DT Marvin Austin (back), DT Shaun Rogers (blood clot). DT Chris Canty (knee) and TE Travis Beckum (knee) remain on PUP.
LB Mathias Kiwanuka reiterated what everyone around the team has been buzzing about LB Keith Rivers. With starter Michael Boley out, Rivers has stepped in and the the defense has not missed a beat.
"The number one thing that you notice about him is his athletic ability," Kiwi said of Rivers. "He can cover, he can rush, he can fill the gap. It’s all the other intangibles, things that you might not know, that’s what I want to talk about because you know he’s got the speed when you watch him on the field."
