Now Commenting On:

Temps starting to rise here in NYC but that won't matter this week as the Giants prepare to play on the road indoors vs Detroit this Sunday.

*Yesterday at practice, ten players did not participate: G James Brewer (ankle), WR Victor Cruz (knee, concussion), T David Diehl (knee), RB Peyton Hillis (concussion), DT Cullen Jenkins (shin, quadricep), WR Jerrel Jernigan (knee), CB Trumaine McBride (groin), DE Jason Pierre-Paul (shoulder), S Cooper Taylor (hamstring), CB Terrell Thomas (knee)

*The Giants have more injuries along the offensive line again. Both starting guards (Diehl and Brewer) are both hurting and the Giants may have to turn to the likes of Dallas Reynolds, Brandon Mosley and Stephen Goodin.

That is not deterring Eli Manning from going out this week to face the vaunted Detroit pass rush. Tom Coughlin says the idea of limiting Eli has been discussed.

"We’ve talked about this," said Coughlin. "He wants to play and he’s looking forward to playing and competing and having a better game. I wouldn’t expect anything different."

"We’ll be ready and whoever is out there will be prepared to go and hopefully we’ll be able to run our offense well and we know they’re talented," Eli told reporters yesterday. "They’ve got a great defensive front and do a good job of getting pressure and just bringing four guys a lot of times. So we’ve just got to get ready for their scheme, what they want to do and have some good answers."

*Coughlin also commented on Cruz' status, but can't possibly be optimistic the star WR will play again this season.

"He is going through the concussion protocol, but he does have a knee, which will probably prevent him from doing anything, but he’s being evaluated as he goes forward for the knee and the concussion," the coach said.

*Jerrel Jernigan will take Cruz' spot in the lineup. Coughlin was asked if he liked what he saw out of Jernigan last week:

"I like the way… his toughness was outstanding the other day. Even running his kickoffs up in there, he barreled up in there and got knocked around from side to side, spun around, and then the play he made late where the big safety, (Kam) Chancellor, came and stuck him and he spun out of that and kept going. I was inspired by that."
