Fifteen months ago, Michael Vick's career was all but over. You wouldn't give a dime to see him play.
First, he would have to jump many hurdles just get reinstated back into the NFL, never mind re-achieve stardom. Second, what team would take a chance on him? The feel was the general public would never accept him back into the fold.
Time heals all wounds apparently.
According to the latest Pro Bowl ballot tally, Vick leads all NFL players in votes.
from Nate Davis / USA Today
The Eagles quarterback has 729,838 fan votes to participate in the Pro Bowl, nearly 40,000 more than Colts QB Peyton Manning, who was atop the balloting heap two weeks ago.
Vick's 105.7 QB rating is second only to New England's Tom Brady, and his 63.8% completion rate would easily be a career-best. He's also passed for 2,243 yards and 15 TDs while running for 467 yards and six more scores.
Brady is third with 623,074 votes. Vikings RB Adrian Peterson leads all non-quarterbacks with 591,598 votes. Houston's Arian Foster, currently the league's top rusher, leads AFC running backs. Detroit rookie Ndamukong Suh has the most votes among defensive tackles.
The final Pro Bowl rosters are determined by the votes of fans, players and coaches with each segment representing one-third of the tally.
The NFL's ballot box is open if you want to cast your vote. The online polls close Dec. 20.
