Quarterbacks (2) - The Giants have been keeping only two quarterbacks on the active roster of late, and this year should be no different. Since November of 2004, Eli Manning has started 119 consecutive regular season games for the Giants. He has also started all 11 of the team's postseason games since then. With this type of streak of durability, only one backup - veteran David Carr - will be kept. Ryan Perrilloux has improved greatly, but there is only so much room on the roster. They will probably re-sign him to the practice squad.
Running Backs (5) - Ahmad Bradshaw, Henry Hynoski, DJ Ware and first round pick David Wilson are locks. That leaves the final spot (if there is one) up for grabs. We're giving the nod here to Da'Rel Scott over Andre Brown, based purely on Scott's speed and upside. Rookie Joe Martinek will most likely be waived and signed back to the practice squad.
Tight Ends (3) - Very simple: Martellus Bennett, Bear Pascoe and rookie Adrien Robinson. Travis Beckum will start the year on PUP. No need to expand on this.
WRs - (6) - Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz, Jerrel Jernigan, Rueben Randle and Domenik Hixon are in. We see the final spot going to UDFA David Douglas purely based on his performance in camp. Hey, it's a tough group to cut from. Isaiah Stanback, Brandon Collins, Dan DePalma and Julian Talley all showed they can play. Something to keep in mind. One player that won't be hard to send packing is Ramses Barden. He just hasn't done enough to earn a spot this year. The others will be on call or on the practice squad.
OL - (9) - David Baas, Chris Snee, David Diehl, Kevin Boothe, Will Beatty and Sean Locklear are the top six. Of the rest, we see Mitch Petrus and rookies Matt McCants and Brandon Mosley being kept. Yes, that means James Brewer will be gone. They only way he stays is if Beatty gets placed on IR. He just hasn't shown the progress.
Specialists - (3) - K Lawrence Tynes; P Steve Weatherford; LS Zak DeOssie
DL - (8) - Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora, Jason Pierre-Paul, Linval Joseph and Rocky Bernard are in. Chris Canty would be also, but he hasn't practiced yet. The guess here is he stays on PUP. Adrian Tracy appears to played his way on to this team finally. Markus Kuhn and Marvin Austin (if he's healthy) don't look like they are getting cut, although you never know. Neither has played a down in the NFL. Dwayne Hendricks has shown that he belongs and Marcus Thomas adds a much-needed veteran presence. And what happens if Shaun Rogers suddenly gets cleared? This is one group that is far from settled.
LB - (8) - Not that hard to keep Mathias Kiwanuka, Michael Boley, Chase Blackburn, Keith Rivers, Mark Herzlich, Jacquian Williams and Spencer Paysinger, but it will be difficult to cut Greg Jones and Jake Muasau. It wasn't too long ago that this unit was a weakness. That changed fast, didn't it?
S - (4) - It looks like Antrel Rolle, Kenny Phillips, Stevie Brown and Will Hill will be the guys. Tyler Sash will be suspended for the first four games. Brown has played well enough to stick. Chris Horton and Jojo Nicholas would be the odd men out unless something changes between now and Sept 5.
CB - (5) - Corey Webster, Prince Amukamara, Michael Coe, Justin Tryon and Jayron Hosley should all make the team. Since Terrell Thomas (knee) is still hurt and will miss the first few weeks, they may carry a sixth, possibly Dante Hughes. The team could still conceivably place Thomas on IR if they feel his knee is not responding to treatment.
