Tom Coughlin is 65 years old and he is set in his ways. With that said he seems to let his guard down and loosen up with his team when he is backed into a corner. The team always senses this and plays to save his job.
- You can never have too many defensive lineman.
Many first, second, and third guessed the Giants when they selected Mathias Kiwanuka and Jason Pierre-Paul when they already had two All-Pro defensive ends. Well I guess they knew more than the rest of us.
- Never, by any means, draft a linebacker in the first round.
The Giants most glaring need has been LB for years now, but they haven’t chosen one with an early pick. They have noticed that it is becoming more of a passing league and that DB’s and DE’s are more of a priority.
- Jerry Reese actually knows what he is doing.
Reese has made some questionable picks in the draft over his tenure and he hasn’t been able to bring in many big name free agents, but he has a plan. He is extremely talented at getting quality players in the first 2 rounds of the draft and getting starters late in the draft or free agency.
- Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks, and Mario Manningham make up the best receiving corps the Giants have ever had.
Yes I said ever, as in the history of the franchise. They are each talented in their own way and with Eli Manning throwing the ball up to them they are as good as any trio in the league.
- They are doomed to lose all of their Defensive Coordinators.
With every miraculous run through the playoffs the Giants have comes the prospect of losing a coordinator. No one wants Gilbride, so obviously the “it” coach would be the DC. Perry Fewell could jump onto the radar extremely fast if the Giants’ continue to play defense at a high level.
- Eli is the better Manning.
Peyton Manning is 9-10 in his playoff career and 4 of those wins came in one Super Bowl run. Eli Manning is now 6-3 in his playoff career and he is undoubtedly more clutch.
- You can never have too many Super Bowl rings!
Ask Jets fans what they would give to feel as though they actually had a shot at a title. Many fan bases don’t enter the playoffs having a true sense of hope. The Giants give their fan base this feeling every time they make the playoffs. No matter their record they always have a chance in a one and done situation.
