The image of Manning wearing the uniform of another team is practically unimaginable. As was the case of another Colts' legend - John Unitas - was met with the stark reality that his star was outdated in San Diego in the early 1970s.
Manning was ceremoniously released by the Colts today and his future and career closure promises to be brighter than that of Unitas. Manning, if healthy, will give an aimless team a turnkey solution to all of their offensive problems. Currently, their are at least six teams interested in offering him a deal.
Where he ends up will affect not only the NFL standings and fantasy football drafts but the TV network coverage as well.
Should the Dolphins land him, the Manning-Brady wars will take on a new twist. If he somehow is signed by the Jets, that scenario, plus countless others would keep local media hopping 24/7 with two Manning brothers to follow around.
The Redskins have a shot at Peyton, too. If he finds himself in DC, he'll also find himself facing off with little brother twice a year (or more).
We shall see which one of these situations will manifest itself the next few weeks. No matter what happens, it will be the biggest story of the season and I will be felt by all....
